Observing Women's History Month 2024

Dear CUNY SPS Community,

March 1st marks the start of Women’s History Month, a time for us to reflect on and honor the incredible contributions of women both past and present, and to recognize the unique and indispensable role that women continue to play in shaping our world. As a woman, this celebration is particularly poignant for me, knowing first-hand the obstacles and challenges women everywhere face with regard to achieving original expression, advancing careers, juggling motherhood and work, and being recognized as equals in society.  

In 2024, the month’s theme is Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). At CUNY SPS, we are privileged to enjoy a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff who exemplify this charge and the spirit of resilience, innovation, and leadership that defines women's history. From trailblazing scholars and activists to visionary leaders and entrepreneurs, women have always been at the forefront of driving positive change and progress in every field imaginable within American society, as well as globally.

To celebrate Women’s History Month, I invite you to explore the wonderful resources that our Committee on Institutional Equity and Diversity (CIED)—itself a remarkable advocacy organization that includes a group of women within CUNY SPS dedicated to advancing EDI—has curated for our community.
