Online Psychology BA Earns Another U.S. News Top Ten Ranking
For the fourth year in a row, the online BA in Psychology program at the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) has earned a top ten spot by U.S. News & World Report.
In 2024, the program has been ranked #8 in the nation out of 48 programs reviewed on the publisher's list of Best Online Bachelor's in Psychology Programs.
“I am thrilled that U.S. News & World Report has again recognized our undergraduate program, and that we are ranked in the top ten of the nation,” said Dr. Carla Marquez-Lewis, academic director of the CUNY SPS BA in Psychology program. “Our degree forms the basis for graduate education and many professions. It fills me with pride that CUNY SPS offers a rigorous, affordable, and accessible online Psychology program, taught by top-notch faculty, that continues to be nationally distinguished for its quality.”
The CUNY SPS BA in Psychology online degree program focuses on investigating why people think, behave, and feel the ways they do. As part of their studies, students select one of three tracks for their advanced coursework: Organizational Psychology, Psychological Development, or Psychopathology. Through these tracks, students also gain a solid foundation in motivation, learning, social behavior, and development that they can apply toward a variety of careers, as well as graduate work in psychology and related fields.
Dianne Galasso, an alum of the BA in Psychology program, is one example of how students thrive within the online program.
Like many students, Galasso initially was attracted to the online degree program for its flexibility. “I chose CUNY SPS because it offered an online psychology program which was convenient for my work schedule, and because of CUNY’s reputation for academic excellence and affordability,” Galasso explained.
But while completing the program, Galasso found that she was able to both gain the expertise and confidence needed to help her succeed in her subsequent career as a licensed therapist.
“I take with me the theories, concepts, and tools I’ve learned throughout my years at CUNY SPS, but my most valuable take away was learning to believe in myself,” Galasso said. “For many years I allowed a lack of confidence and fear of failure to keep me from pursuing my dream of working in some capacity in the psychology field. My successful experience at CUNY SPS shattered all doubt I had in myself.”
