Undergrad Psychology and Business Earn High Marks from U.S. News
The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) is pleased to announce that two of its bachelor’s programs have been ranked highly by U.S. News & World Report.
The BA in Psychology has been ranked #2 in the nation on the publisher’s 2022 list of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs in Psychology, out of 55 schools reviewed. With this ranking, the program has leapt from the #6 spot it first held in 2021.
In a new entry for CUNY SPS, the BS in Business was ranked #30 in the nation on the list of 2022 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs in Business, out of 228 institutions assessed.
These ratings, which join CUNY SPS’s other 2022 rankings--#10 in the nation for Best Online Bachelor’s and #5 in the nation for Best Online Bachelor's for Veterans--were calculated using peer assessment surveys that were administered to these programs.
“It is an honor for our online BA psychology program to not only be ranked highly a second year in a row by U.S. News & World Report, but to move up the list to #2 in the nation,” said Dr. Carla Marquez-Lewis, academic director for the CUNY SPS psychology program. “Once again, this top rating validates our devoted faculty’s efforts to ensure our students graduate with a solid foundation in the field of psychology that will lay the groundwork for their future success.”
“Business knowledge and skills are invaluable in today’s world, and we are very pleased to see that our online BS business program has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report,” said Dr. Edwin Knox, academic director of the CUNY SPS online business programs. “Here at CUNY SPS, our faculty experts understand the need to equip our students with these fundamentals, and it is gratifying to see the quality of our instruction and curriculum recognized.”
Both programs have been carefully designed to offer a rigorous grounding in their respective disciplines, which can then serve as a springboard to a wide range of careers.
The online BA in Psychology, which has the distinction of being the only fully online psychology degree program at CUNY, offers students a foundation in the motivation, learning, social behavior, and development across the life span. As part of their degree, students choose a concentration in Organizational Psychology, Psychological Development, or Psychopathology. This coursework serves as excellent base for a variety of occupations, including those in human and social services, management and business, marketing and market research, health care, and government.
The online BS in Business program provides students with a background in business functions and principles that can be used to build or advance their careers. Through the examination of case studies, global business models, and analytical tools, students gain a strong understanding of where they would make the greatest impacts within an organization. Additionally, the attention devoted to ethical decision-making, corporate responsibility, and team collaboration helps students develop the practical managerial skills needed to thrive in a range of business areas.
