Why did you choose to continue your education at CUNY SPS? Why the online BS in Business?
I chose CUNY SPS because of the CUNY name as well as the mature population it is geared toward. I have an AAS in business and I have aspirations to own a business in the future.
How does your degree relate to your career?
I believe that business is the new Liberal Arts. Any information in this profession is useful and powerful. I work with mental and developmental disable individuals. Being able to use logistics and communication skills has been a huge help.
What professional or personal goals would you like to achieve during your time at CUNY SPS?
My professional goals are to continue my education and obtain a Master’s degree in Communication. On a personal level I was dedicated to keeping a high GPA in order to show leadership and responsibility.
In which ways have you grown so far as a result of your studies at CUNY SPS?
I have definitely become more passionate about the business field and more focused on furthering my education.
What kind of impact do you think your degree will have on your career/life?
I am sure that obtaining my BS will increase my confidence and will catapult me into more successful career and entrepreneurial opportunities.
What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve received while at CUNY SPS?
I have received a large amount of support to help me successfully complete my degree, here at CUNY SPS, from my advisor (Anjali) and from career services personnel (Kelsey and Shannon). I can’t narrow it down to one piece of advice but this support has been a huge part of my academic journey.
What advice would you offer someone considering applying for admission to your program? Advice you can offer someone who is juggling work and school?
A: Be sure that you are or can become comfortable without having a teacher in front of you. Become disciplined in carving out time for study not just homework completion.
B: Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Slow and steady is best. This is not a sprint it is a marathon.
What do you hope to do after graduating from CUNY SPS? What does your future look like?
I have plans to pursue my Master’s Degree at Baruch College in Communications. In the long run I would like to teach on a college level and assist young adults as they make decisions for college majors and career paths.
