BA in Human Relations

Headshot
"I chose the BA Human Relations degree at CUNY SPS because I believe it is a degree that STANDS OUT. The course structure will challenge, motivate, and inspire you to not just be a better professional, but also a better person."

How does your current job relate to the human relations field? What is the most gratifying aspect of your job? What is the most difficult aspect?

My job relates to the Human Relations degree in many aspects. This degree is helping me understand the various challenges of human behavior, interactions, and relationships in the workplace.  I am involved in building and enhancing relationships between physicians as well as patients. It also requires me to provide organizational guidance to my team members.

Why did you choose to earn your bachelor’s degree in human relation at CUNY SPS?

I chose the BA Human Relations degree at CUNY SPS because I believe it is a degree that STANDS OUT. The course structure will challenge, motivate, and inspire you to not just be a better professional, but also a better person.

What is your inspiration for completing your bachelor’s degree?

My inspiration comes from many places. Family, of course, is one of the main ones; my husband is extremely encouraging and patient during this process. My parents are beyond supportive in anything I set my heart to.

What has been one of your favorite courses?  Favorite professors?

So far, all of the courses have favorites of mine! Professor Bonnie Johnson and Bev Brown will help you get out of your comfort zone in class discussions.

Which professional and/or personal goals would you like to achieve prior to graduation?

My professional goal is to work in the training and development department of my employer, and eventually train other companies.

How have you grown as a result of your studies at CUNY SPS?

I have grown in my conflict management skills, as well as overall interactions with my team members and other staff.

What advice would you offer someone considering applying for admission to the BA in Human Relations program?

The best advice I would say is to know your limits --  all of these courses require a lot of reading and writing time. This is not a program where you think you can just “get by” by not doing certain assignments. You have to be dedicated not only to this program but also to yourself.
