Samaya is currently employed as an assistant coordinator at Hudson County Community College’s Center for Business and Industry.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, and watching comedies, mysteries, or romantic shows.

How does your current job relate to the human relations field?

My current job is strongly related to human relations, because I interact with students, instructors, co-workers, and employers on a day-to-day basis.

What is the most gratifying aspect of your job?

Helping others get to a better work environment. Seeing the progress my students achieve.

What is the most difficult aspect?

Helping people who don’t want to help themselves, because of a lack of good work habits. Even though I am working as an Assistant Coordinator, I always make every effort to do better. Having a bachelor’s degree in human relations will open many doors to make the next step in my career. 

Why did you choose to earn your bachelor’s degree in human relation at CUNY SPS? 

I chose to earn my BA in Human Relations at CUNY SPS because I like the combination of courses that the program provides -- psychology, sociology, humanity and business. Everything I feel so passionate about.

What is your inspiration for completing your bachelor’s degree?

My inspiration for completing the bachelor’s degree in human relations is to show my four children and me that anything is possible. Also, I want to take the next steps towards my education and my career.

Which professional and/or personal goals would you like to achieve prior to graduation?

To communicate more effectively, delegate more effectively, and learn a new skill to become a better manager.

How have you grown as a result of your studies at CUNY SPS?

Being part of the human relations program at CUNY SPS has helped me feel more confident in achieving my goals.

What advice would you offer someone considering applying for admission to the BA in Human Relations program?

I would advise them to come to a Human Relations mini conference, and ask questions to current students.
