In June 2024, the CUNY SPS MA in Applied Theatre (MAAT) program hosted its first-ever Eastern Region Drama Therapy Symposium in collaboration with the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA). This exciting event was organized by registered drama therapist and MAAT alum Lillian Ribeiro, who has devoted her career since she graduated in 2013 to the healing power of drama. This post in the award-winning CUNY SPS blog explores how Ribeiro built a career as a drama therapist, what inspired her along this path, and how CUNY SPS helped her along the way.

CUNY SPS' online bachelor program was recently ranked #12 on Intelligent.com's 2025 listing of the nation's best online bachelor's programs. Several additional programs were also ranked highly by Intelligent.com, including the online RN-to-BSN program (# 4) and the online master’s in Data Science program (#12). The Sociology BA also earned enthusiastic recognition in addition to the School receiving high marks as a leader in higher education for veterans.

CUNY SPS alum Alexandria Sumpter-Delves (BA Communications and Culture '13), was named to the Queens Public Library Board of Trustees on October 3. Sumpter-Delves currently holds the position of Director of College and Career Services at Queens Community House, which helps young adults ages 14 to 24 develop the critical skills needed for success in the workforce. In a former role, she managed CUNY's partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations after Superstorm Sandy.

CUNY proudly presented its inaugural “50 Under 50” alumni list this past August. CUNY SPS alum and "50 under 50" inductee Kris Senior (MS in Business Management and Leadership ‘20), who currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at the Barbizon Lighting Company, shares their takeaways about receiving this honor.

CUNY SPS Academic Community Leader and Nursing Assistant Professor Dr. Jennifer McIntosh recently published in the Taylor and Francis' 'Issues in Mental Health Nursing Journal.' The article, "Visitation Restrictions in Inpatient Psychiatric Settings: A Call for Connected Healing," was published on July 19, 2024.
