CPL Policy for Graduating Students
This policy is for students who plan to complete Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), which includes Credit for Portfolio Evaluation, Credit for Examination, and/or Credit for Non-Collegiate Learning, during their final term at CUNY School of Professional Studies. Credit for Prior Learning must be selected from the list of approved and evaluated exams/credentials or must be pre-approved by the Experiential Learning Department.
Any Credit for Prior Learning that is to be used to complete a degree requirement must be submitted prior to the following dates:
- June Graduation – submission deadline is May 1
- August Graduation – submission deadline is July 1
- January Graduation – submission deadline is December 1
- February Graduation – submission deadline is December 1
Submission of completed Credit for Prior Learning means the following:
The CPL Exam or Credential has been completed and an official score report, official transcript, certificate of completion, and/or passing portfolio proof of completion is submitted and received by transfercredits@sps.cuny.edu by the deadline.
If a student does not submit CPL proof of completion by the deadline, it is not guaranteed that the CPL will be applied to the student's record in time for the student to be included in the corresponding graduating class. As a result, this may delay the student's graduation until the next conferral date.
It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the CPL attempted is completed and official proof of completion is submitted and received by transfercredits@sps.cuny.edu by the deadline.
