Dr. Elizabeth Bishop, an adjunct faculty member in the Youth Studies program, has been awarded the inaugural CUNY SPS Excellence in Youth Studies Teaching Award. She received this honor for effectively synthesizing theory, source material, and personal experience in her teaching, and for prioritizing student growth and process.

Thomas Brasch: The Life of an Artist

Melanie Lorek, assistant professor of sociology and human relations, will moderate a panel discussion about the life and legacy of East German artist Thomas Brasch and the broader aftermaths of the GDR. The panel on May 24 is entitled Thomas Brasch: The Life of an Artist and is being co-organized by the Leo Baeck Institute, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe Institut, the German Film Office, Deutsches Haus NYU, and the University of Freiburg Liaison Office.

Dr. Kathleen Marsala-Cervasio, an associate professor in the CUNY SPS nursing programs, has published the article "An Integrative Review of the Attitudes of Acute Care Nurses Towards Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities" in the International Journal of Nursing and Health Care Science. Dr. Marsala-Cervasio co-authored the piece with Marie Lourdes Charles, assistant professor at Pace University's Lienhard School of Nursing.

Sara Morgulis Named Executive Director of TYA/USA

Sara Morgulis, an alum and faculty member in the CUNY SPS MA in Applied Theatre (MAAT) program, has been named executive director of the nonprofit Theater for Young Audiences USA (TYA/USA). In this interview, Morgulis highlights the multilingual theatre company Jugando N Play, which is run by MAAT alums Sindy Castro and Madeline Calandrillo.

Dr. Linda Paradiso, assistant professor in the CUNY SPS nursing organizational leadership graduate program, published a letter to the editor in American Nurse: The Journal of the American Nurses Association (ANA). Her letter was a response to the trial and conviction of a registered nurse criminally prosecuted for a fatal drug error in a patient at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
