Shruti Bali teaches Immigration Law at the CUNY School of Professional Studies. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. Her main area of practice is Business Immigration although she has experience in many different areas of immigration law including family immigration and removal defense.
Over the years she has worked with boutique law firms as well big law and has enjoyed and learned from both. She is now the founder and managing attorney at Bali Law LLC.
Immigration is close to her heart not only because she practices it but because she is an immigrant herself. She came to the U.S. when she was 16 years old and has gone through a long journey going through the ups and down of immigration herself with her family.
To her the most important aspect of practicing immigration are the stories. These stories represent her, her parents and her brother. They are the reason she chose to represent immigrants and help them achieve the American dream.
This is also why she has chosen to now teach immigration. Immigration is so much more than rules and codes. Immigration policies literally affect how people’s lives are shaped and changed.
Through the courses she teaches, she not only wants to talk about the rules that shape the immigration policies of this country but also make students empathize towards the journey of the people they might across while practicing in this multifaceted field of law.
When not working, Shruti enjoys the fast paced mom life in the New Jersey suburbs with her husband, two energetic boys and an even more energetic Labrador.
