The goal of the inaugural CUNY SPS Transformative Learning and Development Conference (TLDC) is to foster a collaborative community and supportive space to share activities, ideas, and best practices for creating transformative teaching and learning experiences at CUNY SPS.

The conference will take place online on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, between 12:00-3:00 pm, Eastern.

There will be a main panel for one (1) hour, including Q&A, followed by a series of breakout rooms for two (2) hours, with each breakout room lasting for 30 minutes. We encourage panelists to share targeted outcomes to enhance participants' learning experiences.

All CUNY SPS faculty and staff are invited to share their professional development activities and research projects completed in AY 2024/2025.  Proposals from individuals are welcome, as are panel proposals related to the following overarching topics.

Topics of Focus:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Professional Development
  • Research and Scholarship Related to Teaching and Learning
  • Community Engagement

All selected sessions will be held online via Zoom and will be recorded.

Proposal Guidelines:

  • Abstract (~500-1000 words): Describe the content and significance of the session, and how it will address the theme of the conference. The audience will be most interested in innovative ideas and programming.
  • Proposals from individuals are welcome, as are panel proposals.
  • Faculty/student research collaboration proposals are also welcomed.

The Improving the Teaching and Learning Experience committee members will review all proposals to select the top 12 to 14 submissions using the following rubric criteria:

  • Clarity of Objectives
  • Engagement Strategies
  • Clarity and Organization
